Dear Board members,
As a Saratoga councilmember and a candidate for U.S Congress, I am writing to urge you to do your utmost to keep Blue Hills Elementary open.
This is a high performing school, with engaged parent volunteers and a very successful STEAM program.
It would be disruptive to say the least for the lives of these young students.
They have discovered friendship, found community ship and this school has established roots for hundreds of parents and their children.
This school is a bridge between Cupertino and Saratoga and leads to a cross pollination of cultures and best practices.
It is something very unique, that I am keenly invested to see preserved and protected.
Here is my take: We all have to bunker down and withstand the Covid-19 disruption.
But let us not take drastic steps β as it is difficult to turn things back.
Yes, the true test of leaders is to address such situations, and make decisions that will work in the interest of the people, and for the long term.
I urge you to optimize, tighten the budget, but keep every school running, functioning, and not disrupt the lives of the parents and the students.
There is enough of this already.
I really appreciate you reading this and taking action that will work best for the lives of our precious elementary school students.
β
Warm Regards,
